Sh. Ashwani Kumar Sarpal

Born on 14th March, 1968, Mr. Ashwani Kumar Sarpal completed his Graduation in the year 1986 from Government College Gurdaspur, LLB in the year 1989 from Regional Law Centre, Jalandhar and LLM in the year 1997 from Annamalai University.

Joined the Delhi Judicial Services in the year 1992. During his early judicial career, he dealt with both civil and criminal matters. He later promoted to Delhi Higher Judicial Services on 06.01.2006 and held several important posts.

During more than three decade of long service in judicial service including about two decades in Higher Judicial Services of Delhi, he held courts in almost all jurisdiction i.e. Civil, Criminal, CBI (PC Act), MACT, designated court of LAC and Probate, MCD Appellate Tribunal, Judge Family court, POCSO Court at various court complexes i.e. Tis Hazari, Patiala House Courts, Rohini, Rouse Avenue and Karkardooma Courts. Also served as OSD in DLSA on deputation basis for one year.

He has also written a book on “Dishonour of Cheque- Criminal Law In Action” and its 6th Edition was released in April 2025.

He has been regularly called as a ‘Resource Person’ in Delhi Judicial Academy on different subjects.

He has served as Principal District & Sessions Judge, North East w.e.f. 19.11.2025 till 17-01-2026. Now, Mr. Ashwani Kumar Sarpal is presently posted as Principal District & Sessions Judge, East District, Karkadooma Courts, Delhi, with effect from 17th January, 2026.
